Strike Three for IntlBGA Board

[Index of Web Site]Home ] [ Strike 3 IBGA ] ABGA New Board ]

June 29, 2008

The IntlBGA board of directors mailed out the "Boer Breeder" magazine in June with the ballots for the new directors and seven proposals. Unfortunately, they put an incorrect return address for the ballots and many of the ballots are going into "never-never" land never to be seen again. If the members did not add their own return address, the ballots are likely lost and the votes will never be counted. There was no place on the ballot telling members to add their return address. There were a few members at the Central Regional Show that had strong beliefs that the "incorrect address" was no mistake. There is a strong dissatisfaction level of the members related to the current board and the members are wanting change and real leadership on the board after this election.

Here is the correct address that the IntlBGA office has listed on their official web site.

The suite number was not listed initially. The original deadline for ballots to be returned was July 1, 2008. When the IntlBGA office posted the error about the incorrect address, they did not say anything about the deadline being extended. Members had to contact the IntlBGA office again to get clarification on the deadline and when the votes would be counted. Finally, the office stated the deadline has been extended to July 23, 2008 and the votes will be counted on August 4, 2008.

Strike One - There never should have been a mistake such as not listing a verified and correct mailing address on a critical document such as the annual ballot for new directors and propositions. That is a basic job of whoever has responsibility for publishing the magazine for IntlBGA.  This job was removed from the responsibility of Wynema Adams recently by the recommendation of director Alice Thompson. Alice Thompson is the director responsible for the magazine now even though the board will not say that. They don't have official ownership for many of the critical items such as the magazine and the web site. This makes it much easier for no one to be blamed when something is not done or done incorrectly. Here is a note from Alice Thompson telling Brenda Fox some of the things that needed done for this specific issue of the magazine. (see note). This clearly shows that Alice was giving the directions for publishing the magazine. This is just one of the examples as to why the IntlBGA president currently has a stack of letters from members requesting Alice Thompson be removed from the board. Brenda Fox is the office manager and is responsible for editing the magazine and I believe she is the person that selected the Texoma company. It would have been an absolute minimum responsibility to find out the proper mailing address for the ballots and this was not done.  This magazine was edited and reviewed by Brenda Fox and then forwarded to Alice Thompson for another edit and review and yet a critical but simple item of information was overlooked.

Strike Two - When the office was notified that some members were having their ballot returned, the office discovered the missing suite number and stuck a note on the web site which no one reads any more. There is critical show point information that was announced in 2006 and it is still not on the web site. Members only go to the web site to see meeting minutes and show schedules. While some of this was going on, one director was posting on boer chat groups telling breeders what buck won at the ABGA National Show but he would not post one thing to alert the IntlBGA members of this problem. At the Central Regional Show, I had to request the the IntlBGA president make an announcement concerning the problem. There were members at the show that had still not heard of the problem. No one on the board or the office was emailing members and asking them to spread the word of the problem. Mainly because many of the board of directors would have just as soon members not know that their ballot was being lost because I am on the ballot running for director and I am the last person in the world they want being a director.

Strike Three - It was only last week that we were told about the incorrect address. That was less than 10 days before the original deadline. On the original statement from the IntlBGA office about the incorrect address, they did not state that any extension would be given because of THEIR ERROR. This board had to be continually hit over the head to finally announce that an extension would be given.  This seems to be a board that can't have two different thoughts in their head at the same time or show any leadership in attacking the problem with a total solution instead of dribbling it out.

You can contact the IntlBGA office and request a new ballot. Their number is 903-364-5735. Contact one or more of the directors and let them know you are not happy with their leadership or the lack of......
