A friend showed us this item and we think
it would be very useful to us. We are ordering one to help in our
kidding management. There are three ways we would use this tool.
They are:
- When a newborn can't or won't nurse on its own in the
first few hours after birth, we will milk some of the colostrum
from the mother and use a bottle to get some initial nutrition
in the kids.
- When one of our does kid and has a good, full bag, we
will milk some of the initial colostrum from the mother and
freeze it for later use in case another mother's milk
doesn't come in at birthing time.
- If we have a doe with a very good, large bag, we will
occasionally milk her and freeze the milk in case we have a
bottle baby later. This would normally be a milk goat or
percentage doe with a milk goat bloodline.
