We attended the 2009 Elite Coalition Sale in Texarkana, Arkansas on July 18, 2009. We believe it has become the premiere production sale that we know of at this time. There were some outstanding animals offered this year, as usual, and most of the prices were out of our price range, as usual. Many breeders come to this sale looking for the top of the line animals that can immediately go into the show ring or be flushed. We don't do flushes and do very little showing. We especially don't look for animals to purchase just so we can win in the show ring.

We go to production sales  with two objectives in mind.

1. Find top quality animals with bloodlines that have a history of producing offsping with features that we desire in our herd.
2. To be able to recover any purchase price within 12-18 months through the kids they produce.

We purchased two Does. Below are pictures and information as to why we selected them.

Lot #45

This was one of several Does we had selected because they had bloodlines back to TLB T333 Ripper. Not only is this Doe out of a Ripper son, but her dam is a Ripper daughter. She is a granddaughter of ASH CREEK BRIGHT STAR (Ennobled) who has three Ennobled offspring.

She is a beautiful Doe that is old enough to be bred this fall. She will be bred to PW's War Dancer.

Below is a picture of Ripper and some info on him showing why we were looking for his genetics for our breeding program.

2005 IBGA National Champion Buck

He sired 5 out of the 18 Fullblood Class Winners at the 2008 ABGA National Show along with the National Champion Buck and National Champion Get of Sire and several otehr divisional champions! He has already accumulated well over 2200 points and they are continuing to accumulate.

DCW BJ's Hot Lips
Consignor: Widner Boer Goats

Lot #70
At the 2008 Elite Coalition Sale, we purchased a Doe called DCW She Devil and we love the way she is built and the kids she has produced. We went to the 2009 sale looking for another Bo Jangle daughter. Most of the Bo Jangle Does we had selected were sold at too high of a price for our objectives.  Hot Lips was closer to the end of the sale when some of the buyers had left. We sweated out the bidding on her and believe we got a steal with our final winning bid. Going into the sale, she had not been one that we were looking to bid on. However, her full sister, Lot #68, that was six months older, was on our list and sold for $4,750. She was a massive, beautiful Doe. We believe Hot Lips will look the same in six months and we saved $3,500 by getting the younger sister. She will be bred to PW's War Dancer late this fall.

DCW Bo Jangle

2006 ABGA National Champion Buck

He is the youngest buck ever to be named ABGA National Champion. He currently has around 2400 show points and growing.

This National Champion Buck produced the 2008 ABGA National Champion Doe, BJ's Girl. BJ's Girl, BJ's Sorority Sister, and BJ's Cowgirl were selected as National Reserve Champion Fullblood Get of Sire at the 2008 ABGA National Show.

What we did not get at the sale!

Offspring from Main Event, shown to the right. We are more and more impressed with the offspring we see from breedings with this buck. However, the prices were too high for us at the sale. The prices were indicating the quality and desirability of his offspring. The good news was, one of the Does for sale was a full sister to one we have from the sale last year out of a recip.

The sister this year was lot #12, 2DOX Confection selling for $7,750.  That was the second highest price for an animal at the sale.

2DOX Barracuda

This is our Main Event daughter from the purchase of a recip at the 2008 sale. We were proud of her before, but now we have 7,750 other reasons to be proud of her.

She will be bred to PW's War Dancer this fall.
